Tax Leader, Strategy

Made up of smart, perceptive professionals with a flair for domestic, international, and sales & use tax, the knowledge and expertise of this team run deep. You have several years of experience in this field and extensive knowledge of those tax issues most relevant to growing companies. While this team doesn’t give individual tax advice, you make it easy for the company to get what it needs to make good tax decisions. You find ways to work smarter by streamlining and automating their tax processes and systems and find ways to be both innovative and compliant.

As a Tax Manager (or Sr. Manager), you’d be joining a diverse group of hyper-talented professionals with global accounting and finance expertise that’s supported by an incredibly strong leadership team. This position reports directly to the company’s VP of Tax.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Consulting (~60-70%)
    • Lead strategic projects and focus areas including: 1.) Research Tax Credit, 2.) Green Energy Incentives included in the Inflation Reduction Act, and 3.) annual projections and quarterly estimates
    • Strategize with key executives across the Finance Department, including those in FP&A and Financial Reporting to develop quarterly & annual taxable income estimates
    • Monitor tax legislation and communicate the impact of this legislation to company leadership
    • Analyze tax implications of the company’s future endeavors and communicate findings to colleagues in Financial Reporting & Operations
  • Tax Compliance & Provision (~30-40%)
    • Calculate and track major differences in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and Tax
    • Oversee preparation of Federal and State & Local income and franchise tax returns for the parent company and its subsidiaries (primarily domestic partnerships)
    • Collaborate with VP and Sr. Managers to proactively explore tax planning opportunities
    • Manage external Tax Advisors and Tax Analysts
    • Assist with ASC 740 calculations, tracking deferred tax assets & liabilities and account reconciliations
  • Other & General (~5-10%)
    • Assist with responding to Notices or Information Document Requests (IDRs) from US Federal & State tax authorities
    • Partner with Investor Relations to ensure stakeholders receive timely & accurate financial and tax information
    • Various other tasks as assigned from executive leadership

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years of related public and/or corporate tax experience.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with income tax compliance for domestic partnerships in addition to income tax reporting under ASC 740.
  • Experience with calculating complex differences in GAAP/Tax, partnership allocations, and Schedule M-3.
  • Working knowledge of tax forms and processing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Big 4 Public Accounting background.
  • CPA or Masters in Tax.
  • Experience with the Research Tax Credit.
  • Experience in a Private Equity, Construction, or Real Estate environment is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional, diverse, and fast-paced environment.
